Overview – Khanh Hoa Province

Khanh Hoa is a coastal province in Southern Central Vietnam gathering of all kinds of basic terrains: semi-mountainous areas, coastal plains, sea, seashore, islands, archipelago, forests…  all forming a miniature Vietnam. This characteristic helps create all favorable conditions for an overall economic development, in which a combined sea economy is most significant.

Khanh Hoa is situated at the important terminals nationwide and worldwide. National Highway No. 1 and the trans-Viet railway run along the whole length of the province, linking Khanh Hoa with all the other provinces at both ends. National highway No. 26 connects Khanh Hoa with the provinces in the Western  Highlands. Cam Ranh and Nha Trang Airports, and Cam Ranh, Nha Trang and Hon Khoi Seaports also are the links between the province and the world.


Nha Trang City

Khanh Hoa has a 385-km coast and about 200 islands of all sizes off shore; the islands of Truong Sa archipelago assume an especially important position in the economy and  national defense. The provincial waters abound in specialties such as shrimp, cuttlefish, North Sea fishes, tropical fishes… Especially, the edible swift let nests have long been known as the “white gold” of the province. In May 2002, Nha Trang Bay was recognized as a member of the Club of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World.

Khanh Hoa is not only famous for a province with many beautiful landscapes but also for its age-old cultural traditions (the homeland of Khanh Son Stone Musical Instrument and Champa relics), as well as its brilliant tradition of the steadfast resistance against aggressors.

Khanh Hoa hosts many valuable ancient architectural as Ponagar Tower Temples, the White Buddha Statue. The province is also a cultural center with many universities, academies, and scientific centers of national importance  such as the Pasteur Institute, the Vaccine Institute, the Oceanographic Institute, …

The natural conditions, the geographical positions, and the historical-cultural background have provided Khanh Hoa great potentials in developing tourism and services. Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa is presently defined as one of the 10 major tourist centers of the whole country.
